DESCRIPTION

Name:Enty the Entertainer [Subject Designation: #5212]
Age:
Unknown [Appears to have the mental age range of a young child no older than 7]
Height:4'2" || 130cm
Anomaly Class:3 [Designation: Boundary Walker]
Pronouns:They/Them/It
Background:A seeming living bedtime story character, this fiendish childhood friend from stories beyond lives a deluded existence of whimsy and curiosity seeking to play and entertain for ages more. However, beneath that seemingly porcelain smile is a broken being, upon learning a terrible truth of their very existence- who's twisted perspective has led them down a path of carnage and violence; allowing their story to continue, unaware of the ones' they are ending themselves.
Currently within Midwich Valley custody after anomalous changes in various storytelling media, Enty is now withheld under strict confinement as both a danger to narratives and to unravel the mysteries of the truth behind the lens pertaining towards their existence.

Personality:Enty displays the mental capacity of a young child no older than 6-7 years of age, expressing a fittingly youthful wonder and curiosity of the world around them; with a bound in their step and an adventure waiting to be embarked upon! They are energetic, curious and polite for the most part, although they do have a tendency to speak before they think, lending towards impulsive tendencies.
Naturally, they are always wide-eyed or enthralled when something or someone of interest catches their eyes. It is this very innocent and light-hearted behaviour that lets peoples' guards down when they turn the page to a much more sinister reflection to this storybook character.
When put under extreme psychological, physical or emotional stress, Enty becomes a dangerous presence, transforming from a whimsical jester to a stab-happy playmate, intending to win the twisted game that has been started.
If one plays along with their delirious exploits, one can go about rendering them quite docile or friendly depending on the circumstance!
Outlook:Enty is a psychologically damaged individual who sees the world differently through their traumatised lenses. Living every day[?] in the moment to meet new friends and seek new wonders. They're not one to actively seek their visceral entertainment willingly and are rather affable if not a little bit uncomfortable to be around, simply wanting to play or make people laugh.
Though in the moments of existential dissociation that pushes them to maim, Enty has subconsciously figured out that the way to continue their existence is to end other's "narratives" as a means of continuing theirs.
In turn, they seem to lack an understanding of reflecting on their actions due to their eternally child-like development, with the consequences of death and killing all null to them due to their dissociative amnesia.
They don't have any long-term agenda nor any ultimate goals and those fortunate or unfortunate enough to cross their paths will be in for a roulette of escapades mixing both laughs and stabs of this entertaining fellow.

Bonus Trivia:

  • Enty cannot read or write very well and has trouble pronouncing more formally comprehensive words.

  • Has long hair underneath their hat.

  • Despite lacking teeth or an apparent digestive system, Enty can still chew and eat food, it just sorta- disappears.

  • Enty's favourite activities are drawing with crayons or catching bugs.

  • For some reason their blood is pink?

  • Due to their elongated arms in ratio to their legs, they sit down like a gibbon, with their forearms facing outwards.

  • Enty's hat makes a jingling sound when they walk.

  • Their yellow decals glow in the dark.

  • Despite being illiterate and hard to pronounce various words, Enty appears fluent in various languages [Notably: French, Japanese, Russian, Portuguese, German, etc.] and several languages of which that don't seem to be recorded by modern linguistics.

  • Enty suffers from a mix of Somniphobia/Nyctophobia [The fear of sleep and the dark] and Autophobia [The fear of being alone/loneliness]

ABNORMALITIES

**Abilities: **

  • Pain Tolerance:Enty displays an uncanny resistance to pain or physical trauma and can keep fighting even when half of their torso has been blown off, or even when losing an arm.

  • Retractable Tassels:These pieces of fabric can stretch up to well over 3 feet long raking claws or be retracted into more compact baubles. They are prehensile, durable and razor sharp, capable of slicing through steel or wrapping around like vines.

  • Limb Reattachment:Should Enty lose their body-parts in a scuffle, they can always reattach them through external means via stitching or bandages to regain the functionality of that limb.

  • Articulated Body: Due to their doll-like physique, Enty's body is composed of flexible joints that allow them to contort or contract their body in ways not feasibly possible for an average humanoid skeletal structure. With it, they can rotate their claws like circular saws or even their entire body like a spinning top of carnage.

  • Prehensile Hat: If either of their arms get damaged, Enty can manipulate their hat into a third limb, complete with slashing claws for a swift surprise attack.

**Fighting Style: **
Enty's main form of combat is off impulse rather than anything coordinated. Ultimately comparable to that of childlike flailing or roughhousing. However, coupled with their uncanny ability, its a form of combat that one must consider with great vigilance and caution. What Enty's main form of fighting boils down to is the unorthodox and unforeseen, aiming for vital or exposed areas of their opponent like tendons or eyes with darting slashes or swipes; not afraid to play up a naughty streak and play dirty to catch an opponent off guard.
Coupled with this, they're quite a danger at melee range, especially with their long reaping claws adding for that extra reach to get an extra hit in. However, likewise to their childlike characteristics, Enty is not a being who was made for fighting and an affable fighting skill isn't a notable strong suit.

**The Ocula Obscura: **
An ability granted to Enty upon seeing the glimpse of their existence. With it, Enty is capable of subconsciously lifting and erasing their presence and existence from the "Story" that is being told for short periods of time, effectively removing themselves from the narrative, granting them incorporeality. In addition to this, they are capable of warping the perception of reality around them to an extent, able to create clones of themselves, shift general visual clarity or even creating visual delusions. Upon reactivation, all parties will experience a Deja Vu effect, experiencing vague memories of their encounters with Enty due to the cognitive effects of their abilities.
When using this power, all information and material referring to Enty [E.G. Memories, Recordings, Visual Information] will promptly be erased, making researching them difficult due to their cognitive properties.
Using this power for too long will cause Enty to feel "exposed" outside of the narrative with "Going to sleep"" becoming much more clear to them, increasing their fear and distress levels to the point of mentally breaking down, as such, they use this ability sparingly with a sub-conscious timer to indicate when to jump back to reality.
Enty also has the ability to involuntarily transport people outside of the Story, depending on one's mental fortitude of their existential state, those transported will usually last a few minutes before going completely delusional.

ADVANTAGES

  • Unpredictability:It is nearly impossible to get a good read on Enty at all times due to their sporadic mood and nature. One moment they can ask you to play tag with them, next thing they could be perched uncomfortably close on your shoulder.

  • Speedy: Enty is known for their bursts of speed and rapid movements. Due to their anatomy, they are nimble in reflexes and capable of moving faster than the eye can track to catch their opponents by surprise; making them difficult to properly snag a good hit in.

  • Point Dextrous:Enty displays a keen precision in using their claws to pick up small objects or to accurately dart their tassels into specific parts of a humanoid body structure with surgeon-like accuracy.

  • Unaware Beware: Complimented with the Ocula-Obscura, Enty's speed and agility adds an extra level of deadliness, especially when it comes to erasing their presence from the conscious mind to land a blow without their opponent being aware of them sneaking up for a surprise attack. On top of this, Enty has the uncanny ability to attack unconsciously, making it hard for those who read minds to get a good analysis of their next actions.

  • Rough and Tumble: Enty has quite the resistance to most damage dished at them, often picking themselves back up to have another go at their situation. In addition to this, their lanky frame helps negate the surface area of more harsh handed attacks.

  • Doll Physiology: Because of their body-plan being similar to that of a mannequin, Enty is known to be quite flexible and manoeuvrable, capable of rotating their limbs an entire •360 degrees in a variety of different utilities.

  • Spatial Lift: Enty gains an incorporeality factor when using the Ocula-Obscura, unable to be interacted or noticed when elevated above the narrative. Allowing them to traverse spaces in short times or phase through opponents in this state.

DISADVANTAGES

  • Not on the same Page:Enty is delusional and suffers from a notable case of psychosis, always viewing the world behind a fantastical lens; constantly fazing between dissociative lucidity and mania.

  • Attention/Action Deficit:Enty isn't the best at paying attention to their surroundings as they're a children's storybook first and a murderer second. As such, they suffer from impulsive actions or seem to lose focus at the new shiny thing in their vicinity; in turn, they are easy to be bargained with or persuaded, though they aren't entirely unfamiliar with Stranger Danger!

  • Some Assembly Required:Whilst Enty can take a hit, their body doesn't exactly equal their resistance to pain. Sharp objects like knives or guns are able to blow off their limbs pretty easily. In addition, they're not immune to pain and harsher blows can make them wince.

  • Child's Play:As has been previously described, Enty's childish side is brought into full focus when they lose or don't get their way, resulting in tantrums or bouts of frustration in relation to the situation, often claiming that people "cheated" or aren't "playing fair" to name a few.

  • Playground Roughhousing:Whilst Enty is wickedly precise with their claws, their general fighting style isn't too impressive, ultimately subtracting down to instinctual flailing or wild slashes due to their developing mind not quite equipped for strategy.

  • Existentially Burdened:As much of a boon the Ocula-Obscura is, using it for too long will cause Enty to become more emotionally distressed, eventually leading to a breakdown due to being exposed outside of the narrative, so a subconscious limit is put in place after each use. In addition to this, whilst Enty's ability allows them to walk atop the 4th Wall, they themselves aren't aware of an audience or the fact they themselves are in a story.

  • Actions not Words: The Ocula-Obscura must be deactivated in order for Enty to interact with objects or their surroundings, which can be capitalised upon to those with pattern recognition or cognitive resistance.

OUTSIDE THE STORY

The Narrative:
A plane of existence that transports Enty to whenever they use the Ocula-Obscura; a place where all narratives and stories are merely deconstructed into words and their literate descriptions. In a meta-sense, Enty is essentially walking on the script or 4th Wall of reality whenever they use this power to escape danger or move about undetected to the observing masses as a sort of fast-travel, able to ride alongside the lines of dialogue or climb up sentences like ladders in dimension like a sort of existential jungle gym.
Being in this plane of existence for too long puts a mental toll on Enty feeling exposed to the "End" of their story much more strongly and only uses it sparingly, even if its activated under subconscious means.
Enty can also involuntarily bring people to this plane of existence if one makes contact with them whilst activating the Ocula-Obscura.
In this world, those with keen self-awareness to the narrative find themselves in a sort of middle-ground, due to being equalised with the fact they're on top of the narrative and if one is literate enough, one could "read" the scripture of a person not currently present in this plane of existence.
Though coming here can be a one-way trip unless those with their own reality warping abilities to hop dimensions or one manages to locates Enty to transport them back, otherwise those trapped will be stuck in a world of scripture, slowly going crazy to the mercy of unexistence.
Their Story of Origin:
For some, Enty may instil a sense of Deja Vu of seeing them from a storybook of some sorts from childhood memories. What is known about their previous world is that they used to be a bedtime story character meant to bring the reader on various down-to-earth adventures before bed. The story's name in question being ███████ █████████████████.
There is nobody home.

FAQ

Character Permissions

  • Why is Enty in Midwich Valley? Unconscious Mediacide and Narrative Jumping. They're Class 3 for a reason.

  • What is Enty's purpose? To continue their existence so that their story can go on just a little bit longer; even if it means ending other's stories in doing so.

  • What is Enty? A storytime character, specifically a jester. bedtime story. For a more serious answer, they're like a doll with some biological characteristics thrown in for uncanny valley.

  • Does Enty have an end goal? Unlike most jester characters, Enty isn't looking to rule or dominate, rather to just prove to the world they exist by spreading their twisted version of entertainment and laughter.

  • What is their power level? They ain't going about chucking buildings I'll tell you that much. Physically, they're pretty frail, but they just are literally built different from a humanoid structure in that regularly fatal damage doesn't put them down easily. The only known real way to put them down is blood loss or aiming for their head.

  • Is Enty evil? They are depicted as an antagonist, however, evil doesn't quite represent them. They are a victim of their unfortunate circumstance, but the actions they've committed, whilst unconscious are of their own doing to get to this point of containment.

  • Does Enty know of the 4th Wall? Enty's entire character is based around the idea of a being who saw beyond the truth of their existence and it breaking them to the point of closing off their mind to cope with the trauma. To reinstate, whilst they have powers that focus around the meta-narrative and 4th Wall, they themselves lack the self-awareness that they are in a story.
